Johnny Bravo debuted on July 14, 1997 on Cartoon Network, which was a movement towards refreshing content. To celebrate the early 25th birthday of the muscle-bound guy with his notorious golden pompadour, here you go some facts about Mr. Bravo.

1. Johnny Bravo’s appellation comes from his creator’s full name.

Even if most of the fans assume him as Greg Brady’s alter ego. It’s actually a take on author Van Partible’s entire name, which is Efram Giovanni Bravo Partible.

2. Johnny Bravo’s biggest fans at Cartoon Network obviously were women.

Some of the Network’s directors were not engaged to Bravo’s episodes, by saying that it’s not being “cartoony” enough. They wanted to pass on the series. Only three women fought for the show to stay on the screen, and they have won the battle. It sounds a little strange for this chauvinistic guy to be supported only by ladies.

3. He was based on totally different characters.

Johnny Bravo is confident, handsome, and no offence he has a style. Against these characteristics, he’s stupid and egoist, therefore no woman wants him. So it’s clearly visible that Bravo is made by the influence of multiple different cultural figures. His behavior is often out of common, and nobody can identify with him, that’s why he’s not loved by each of his viewers, but so on, he still can bring emotions out of people.

4. Johnny Bravo appeared in different cartoons.

He was not only the star of his own show. Fans could caught the legendary blonde pompadour with his classic black sunglasses in many more cartoon series. The most famous of these shows was Scooby-Doo. The episode was called Bravo-Dooby-Doo, and it actually appeared in Bravo’s cartoon’s first season.

5. Johnny Bravo has conspiracy theories.

Is a series popular enough, without fans making up ridiculous conspiracy theories? Johnny Bravo was seven years on the air, and there was no constant storyline ever. Nobody knows even his age, and has not any information about his past, and there are more mysteries behind his character. The two of the most known conspiracy theories are the following:

  • Johnny Bravo is eight years old (the same age as his neighbor Suzy)

  • Johnny Bravo isn't real - he imagines all of the episodes

The only person who talks to Johnny and enjoys his company is Suzy. She even has a crush on him. But Johnny has no interest in her. Instead, he chases after older women, who have no interest in him.

Can you think of 90's Cartoon Network without thinking of the Johnny Bravo cartoon? Johnny Bravo was responsible for the careers of many modern animators, it was one of the first Cartoon Network originals, and as I said before, is even the target of many conspiracy theories.

Jump in your bed and start watching Johnny Bravo, let your inner kid come out to the surface. What do you say? ;)
