"Pikachu, I choose you!"

Well, you will be surprised after I am going to tell you, that I am a girl who pretty much adored to watch Pikachu.

Do you remember Pikachu?

Let's see what is needed to know about him.

Pikachu is an Electric-type Pokemon and is the most popular mascot of the Pokemon franchise. Pikachu is a short, chubby rat-like pokemon (fictional animal-like character). It is covered in yellow fur and its ears are long and pointed with black tips. Pikachu has pouches inside his red cheeks where it stores electricity, and its forearms are short, with five fingers on each paw, and its feet with three toes. Pikachu is able to release electrical charges throughout his body and his tail, and he could use his signature move Volt Tackle to fight other pokemon that threaten him-according to Wikipedia.

But what does really, he meant to us?

"Pikachu, I choose you!" Ash Ketchum declares, twisting his hat backwards and pitching his Pokéball to the ground.

Oh, what I would have given to shout those words and not appear as a blabbering idiot. To set off on courageous adventures and to be, well, a character. Thankfully, in my early years I discovered a refuge between dream and reality: pretending. And the long-lost days of elementary school provided the exact nutrients required to do this. No, not a constant supply of mother-made honey and butter sandwich (which I'd thoroughly demolish right now), but time. Time to indulge in other worlds. Time to let the brain juices ferment. Time to let the ideas ripen and come to fruition. My mom has endless memories of a young girl and his best friend pacing the sidewalks from a distance, heads lowered, mouths silently racing. This girl played many roles: those of robot and swordsman, Potter and Skywalker. The possibilities were endless.

This remembering made me take a look at the latest versions and facts about Pokemon. I found some interesting facts about it that I will share with you, my dear reader, hope you will enjoy it.

#1: Pikachu is a Combination of 2 Japanese Words

Pikachu actually means something in Japanese, it’s a combination of two Japanese onomatopoeia words: pikapika, which is the sound of sparking, and chuchu, which is the verbalization of squeaking. Given that Pikachu is a lightning mouse, its name certainly makes much more sense, doesn’t it?

#2: Being the Voice of Pikachu is a Full-Time Gig

Pikachu has been voiced for 20 years and across most dubs by the same voice actress, Ikue Otani.” The audio of Pikachu’s voice is not reused at all, and Otani records new lines for each new episode, even providing input as to the characters’ inflection and what Pikachu is “saying” when it speaks. Whether it all sounds the same to you or not, it’s fair to say that Pikachu wouldn’t be quite as memorable without Otani’s distinctive voice.

#3: A City in Kansas Was Renamed Topikachu

In 1998, the first Pokémon video games were launched in the United States. The location of their launch point was in the city of Topeka in the state of Kansas. To help promote the event, the town was renamed to Topikachu for one day. Special Volkswagen Bugs altered to look like Pikachu also departed from Topikachu to tour the country to promote the newly released games. Topeka is still a hotbed for Pokémon themed activities and they’ve even continued their trend of renaming themselves for a stunt, such as when they were “Google, Kansas” for a day in 2010.
