Fun facts you did not know ‘bout Tom and Jerry

1. At the very beginning, they were not called as nowadays

It’s quite hard for me to imagine them as anything else, nonetheless the well known duo was originally named Jasper and Jinx, and they were not made as silent characters. They both had spoken lines throughout their roles.

2. The talented creators of our beloved cartoon

William Hanna and Joseph Barbera in addition created much more masterpieces to make our childhood great. Animations like The Flintstones, Scooby-Doo, The Smurfs should be thanked to them. So, imagine the Cartoon World how would look like without these tales. Kinda boring, huh?!

3. After the change, they were named after a cocktail

It’s a traditional Christmastime cocktail in the US, conceived in the 1820s by Pierce Egan, british journalist. It is a variant of eggnog with brandy and rum added and served hot, usually in a mug or a bowl. The drink's name is a reference to Egan’s book, Life in London, or The Day and Night Scenes of Jerry Hawthorn and his Elegant Friend Corinthian Tom.

4. They became friends for awhile

Back in 1975, Tom and Jerry actually became one another’s best buddies. They were not fighting anymore, in a special series they did travel the world together, were competing in sports, supporting each other and were living in a bromance. Luckily, was yet not born those days.

5. In early episodes Tom crossed the streets on four legs

He was living the life of a normal cat back then, but later moved on and stood up for their rights. Since that day, he faces his obstacles and Jerry on two legs.
